5 States Assembly Election- 2018 Result Out – Congress Claims 3 States

TRS party sweeps the polls in Telengana and MNF claims majority in Mizoram

•  The results of 2018 states elections of 5 states – Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Telengana, Chhatishgarh and Mizoram were out yesterday(11th December).
•  Congress has secured major seats in 3 states – Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhatishgarh in the numbers 115, 101 and 68 seats respectively. TRS of Telengana has secured 88 seats and MNF of Mizoram secured 26 seats apart from National parties INC or BJP.
• The 5 states result show cases a diversion on political likes and dislikes of people in ahead of 2019 general election in the country. Since these states also might give the same verdict in 2019 Lok sabha election also.
• But in case of Madhya Pradesh, the seat winning difference between Congress and BJP is just 7. So the fight remains tight in Madhya Pradesh. The victories will gloss over the party’s defeat in Mizoram, which was the only northeastern state in its kitty.
• Telangana Rashtra Samithi is headed for a landslide victory in its first Assembly elections after the formation of the state in 2013. TRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao’s moves for early polls fetched big dividends with the ruling party winning 83 seats and leading in 5 of the 119 constituencies. The Congress-TDP alliance, ‘Prajakutami’, has won 20 seats and is leading in 1, according to the Election Commission.
• Regional party Mizo National Front or MNF trumped the ruling Congress party in Mizoram taking it away from Lal Thanhawla, returning to power after a decade. The MNF got a massive 26-seat majority, according to Election Commission, crossing the mid-way mark of 21.
