Public sector Indian Bank has bagged the Best Bank award from the Government of Tamil Nadu for its support to Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in the state. Indian Bank Chairman and Managing Director T M Bhasin received the award from Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa at a function here recently. The award was presented to the city-headquartered bank for its performance in extending credit to SHGs in the state. The bank has reached out to seven lakh self-help groups with an aggregate credit of Rs 10,900 crore.
