Highlights of SIMBEX – 19
The harbor phase of SIMBEX – 19: It is conducted from 16 may to 18 may included various planning conferences, simulator based warfare training or war-gaming, courtesy calls to dignitaries of RSN navy, sporting events and deck reception onboard Kolkata.
The sea phase of SIMBEX – 19: It is scheduled conducted in the South China Sea from 19 may to 22 may 19 will include various maritime combat exercises such as firing on aerial or surface targets, advanced aerial tracking, coordinated targeting exercises and tactical exercises on surface or air scenarios.

(1) INS Kolkata is the lead ship of the Kolkata-class stealth guided-missile destroyers of the Indian Navy. She was constructed at Mazagon Dock Limited, and was handed over to the navy on 10 July 2014 after completing her sea trials.
(2) INS Shakti (A57) is a Deepak-class fleet tanker in service with the Indian Navy. She was built by Fincantieri, an Italian shipbuilding company based in Trieste. She is the second and final ship of her class. Shakti, along with her predecessor Deepak, is one of the largest ships of the Indian Navy.
(3) Poseidon-8I (P8I) – It is long-range, multi-mission maritime patrol aircraft manufactured by Boeing, for the Indian Navy. It is a variant of the P-8A Poseidon operated by the US Navy. P-8I is intended to replace the ageing fleet of Tupolev Tu-142 aircraft that are in service with the Indian Navy.
