INDIA, CHINA TO CARRY OUT MAJOR MILITARY EXERCISE ‘HAND IN HAND’

India and China will carry out a major military exercise called ‘Hand-in-Hand’ in December, 2019. The exercise will take place at Umroi, Meghalaya.

Hand-in-Hand

• The exercise was started in 2007 in Kunming.
• The drills got hindered in the 6th edition 2016 in Pune because of a 73-day standoff in Doklam in Sikkim sector of the border.
• between Indian and Chinese forces. In 2018, the situation eased and the troops of the two sides interacted once again in China.
