Repo rate

• When the Reserve Bank of India raises the repo rate, the bank has to lend at higher rates.
• Therefore, it can be said that the increase in the repo rate is one of the reasons for the rise in interest rates in the markets.

Reverse repo rate

• The reverse repo rate is the interest rate at which the RBI takes loans from other banks for a short period.
• This is done by RBI with a commitment to buy back government bonds / securities to banks in future.
• Banks also use the reverse repo facility to earn interest by depositing their short-term surplus money into the RBI.

Reserve Bank of India

• The Reserve Bank of India is the central bank of India. It is the operator of all banks in India. The Reserve Bank controls India’s economy.

• With the Senate acquitting Trump of both the charges, Donald Trump will remain in office.
• He will face the democrat challenge again during US Elections 2020 when he will be seeking a second term.
• Donald Trump is the third US President to face the impeachment trial and survive in the history of US Politics.
• Apart from Trump, two other US Presidents were impeached by the US House of Representatives – Andrew Johnson in 1868 and Bill Clinton in 1998.
• However, all the three Presidents were acquitted by the Senate and thus not removed from the office.
• Under the US Constitution, Congress has the authority to remove the US President in two separate proceedings, first in the House of Representatives that impeaches the President through a simple majority vote and second is the impeachment trial, which takes place in the Senate.
• A two-third majority is required to proceed with the impeachment process in each of the houses and only after that, the President can be removed from the office. The US Constitution also limits a president to two elected four-year terms in office.

• The service will cost a citizen Rs 115. The amount is excluding the money required for documentation.
• At present, every ward in Bengaluru will be allocated one Jan Sevak each and then the number will be increased depending on the workload. All volunteers are being outsourced.

Importance

• Classical Swine Fever (CSF) is one of the biggest pigs’ diseases in India. It causes a loss of about 400 crores of rupees per year in India.
• This has led to a decrease in the population of pigs in 2019. India currently requires 22 million doses of the CSF (Classical Swine Fever) vaccine every year.
• However, currently, only 1.2 million doses are being produced. The reason behind its less production is that only 50 doses can be prepared from the spleen of a rabbit.

What is Classical Swine Fever (CSF)?

• Hog Cholera or Classical swine fever (CSF) is a contagious viral disease of domestic and wild swine.
• It happens due to the viruses that bring viral diarrhea in pigs and ailments in sheep.
• World Organisation for Animal Health has mentioned only one type of CSF virus.
• However, the disease does not harm humans but all-important precautions are advised to follow.
