HRD ministry launched VidyaDaan 2.0

It is a platform to assimilate e-learning content

• The Union Human Resource Development Ministry has launched VidyaDaan 2.0
  program for inviting e-learning content contributions
• The program has been launched due to the increasing requirement for e-learning
  content for students for both school and higher education
• It is arranged in the backdrop of the situation arising out of Covid- 19 and also due
  to the urgent need to integrate digital education with schooling to augment learning

Salient highlights of VidyaDaan 2.0

• VidyaDaan is conceptualized as a common national program for individuals &
  organizations across the country to donate or contribute e-learning resources for both
  school and higher education to ensure continuity of quality learning
• VidhyaDaan program will help educators and organizations have their digital
  learning content recognized and reach to millions of students across India via DIKSHA
  platform
• It is arranged due to the ongoing national lockdown, schools and academic
  institutions across the country have been closed as a precautionary measure against
  COVID-19
• In line with this, the demand and need for quality e-learning content for students
  studying at school as well as in higher education has grown by leaps and bounds
• This has given rise to the urgent need to integrate digital education with schooling
  and higher learning platforms

Content creators and Contributors

• The educators, academicians and content creators are welcome forward and
  contribute their digital learning or e-learning content
• The contribution to Vidhya Daan can be made by educationists, subject experts,
  schools, colleges, universities, institutes, government and non-government
  organizations, individuals, etc
• The content that is contributed will be given national recognition and will reach
  millions of students across India
• To ensure only quality e-learning content is uploaded on the platform, Vidhya
  Daan has provision for approval of contributors, curation of content before uploading
  to the final and required taxonomy
• The contributed content will be available for use across the education ecosystem
  such as government departments, education boards- national and states, schools
  (government and privates) and for the use of all other institutions, organizations and
  entities engaged in education
• The standardized template of the program VidyaDaan 2.0 will help maintain
  uniformity

What is “DIKSHA”?

• DIKSHA portal is a step toward ensuring holistic learning for both teachers and
  students. The digital learning app is directed to access and created a comprehensive
  learning environment where both tutor and student can grow
• DIKSHA is a customizable platform which is currently being used by teachers (from
  both government and private institutions) across the nation for all the standards to
  help the students learn several concepts
• The portal is accessible in many languages for easy understandability of the user
• Teachers will also be able to contribute to the existing learning material, share
  their achievements and have access to authenticate the work of other teachers as well.
