Australia & New Zealand to co-host FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023

• Australia and New Zealand will co-host the Women’s World Cup in 2023.

32 teams will participate in the tournament

• Australia-New Zealand have never hosted the Women’s World Cup before. This is the first time that the two countries will organize it together.
• The tournament will be played between 10 July to 20 August 2023.
• This time 32 teams will participate instead of 24. After this, the previous suggestion to organize it every two years instead of every four years was also repeated.

The number of teams in 2015 was 24

• FIFA has approved 32 teams to play in the Women’s Football World Cup. Till now, 24 teams played.
• In this year, the number of participating teams was increased from 16 to 24 in the year 2015.
• Since 1998, 32 teams have been playing in the men’s category.
• It will be held in 7 cities of Australia and 5 cities of New Zealand.
• The prize money for 2023 is expected to be $100 million
