Retail inflation in India firmed up in June and came in at above the upper tolerance band of 6% set by the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC). The CPI inflation stood at 6.09% in June, up from 5.84% in March, which was the last official headline inflation number released by the Statistics Department. The rise in CPI reading came despite a fall in food inflation, which cooled to a nine-month low of 7.87% in June from 9.2% in May.
