  trading and sourcing e-market platform
• The platform will bridge the rural farmers from India and the gulf Food Industry

Importance of the AGRIOTA

• Millions of Indian farmers will get an opportunity to connect directly with the
  entire food industry in the UAE
• It includes food processing companies, traders and wholesalers through the
  Agriota-E Marketplace platform
• The marketplace allows the farmers to bypass intermediaries, optimizing the
  supply chain and ensuring traceability to create value for all stakeholders
• The online marketplace also provides end-to-end traceability and transparency
  through last-mile verification and extension infrastructure in a blockchain
  environment
• The introduction of a proprietary banking system with a multi-tier escrow
  structure, will guarantee secure transactions of funds when using the platform
• The launch of an innovative model like Agriota will inch the UAE closer to the
  top of the Global Food Security Index
• Initially, the platform will offer cereals, pulses, oil seeds, fruits, vegetables,
  spices and condiments

Relevancy of Global Food Security Index and Food Security in India

• India ranked 72nd out of 113 countries in Global Food Security Index in 2019
• Singapore was ranked the first followed by Ireland, United States, Switzerland
  and Finland
• The index says that UAE, Israel and Singapore are the most impacted countries
  when it comes to natural resource risks and resilience against future food
  security threats
• In 2019, India exported more than 38 billion USD of agricultural and processed
  food products to UAE
• The Indian Government has taken immense measures to ensure food security
  in the country
• The National Food Security Mission was launched to increase production of
  rice, wheat, pulses and coarse cereals
• Also, the National Food Security Act entitles 67% of population to receive
  subsidized food grains
• The Food Corporation of India maintains a buffer stock of food grains to serve
  the interests of producers and consumers
