Exercise SLINEX was organized between India and Sri Lanka

• The 9th edition of India – Sri Lanka bilateral maritime exercise named SLINEX (Sri Lanka-India Naval Exercise) was held.

What exercises will be conducted under both phases?

• Cultural, professional, social, and sporting exchanges will take place under the Harbour Phase.
• Surface and anti-air weapon fire exercises, aviation operations involving cross-deck flying, seamanship evolutions, special forces operations at sea, and complex tactical manoeuvre will take place during the Sea Phase.
• These exercises will further enhance the inter-operability which already exists between the navies of both the countries.

Aim of this exercise

• The aim of SLINEX is to increase mutual understanding, interoperability, and the exchange of best procedures and practices for multi-faceted maritime operations between the two navies.
• SLINEX also exemplifies Sri Lanka and India’s deep maritime engagement and has grown in scope over time to improve bilateral cooperation, in line with India’s ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Security and Growth for All in the Region (SAGAR)’.
