GE Aerospace has entered into an agreement with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for joint production of the Indian Air Force’s Light Combat Aircraft (LCA)-Mk-2 Tejas jet engine. This agreement is being considered as a milestone.
The agreement was announced during the state visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to America. Prime Minister Modi just went on a visit to America at the invitation of US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden.
“The agreement includes the possibility of joint production of GE Aerospace’s F414 engines in India, and GE Aerospace will continue to work with the US government to obtain the necessary export authorizations for this purpose,” the US company said in a statement. ”
It described the MoU with HAL as “an important” element towards strengthening defense cooperation between India and the US.
