- After the US tour, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Egypt on his two-day state visit. He was awarded the highest state honor of Egypt in the capital Cairo. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi conferred the ‘Order of the Nile’ award on PM Modi.
- Started in the year 1915, this honor is given to heads of state, princes and vice-presidents who have rendered invaluable service to Egypt or humanity. This is the 13th highest state honor given to Prime Minister Modi.
- The ‘Order of the Nile’ is made of pure gold, consisting of three square gold units, which contain the emblems of the pharaohs who ruled Egypt.
