Local herders of Tawang region near Bumla Pass in Arunachal Pradesh celebrated Chachin Charai festival on July 14-15. Shepherds from all over the Tawang region enthusiastically participated in the two-day program organized at Chachin.
About 100 herdsmen and their herds of yaks, which numbered more than 400, participated in the event.
A medical camp was organized at the festival to assist the local shepherds who often live in remote places without the medical facilities prevalent in urban areas.
A veterinary camp was also organized to provide similar medical aid to the animals – yaks of the local herders – along with a lecture on animal health that would facilitate the herders in ensuring better care of their livestock.
