- Iran has formally become a full member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while presiding over the SCO summit, extended his best wishes to Iran.
- Till now SCO consisted of eight member states, which include China, Russia, India, Pakistan and four Central Asian countries Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
- The Shanghai Cooperation Organization was formed in the year 2001 with six member countries. India became its member in the year 2017.
