History of handloom
- In the year 1905, Lord Curzon announced the partition of Bengal. On this day, the Swadeshi Movement was started with a great public meeting in the Town Hall of Kolkata.
- In memory of this incident, National Handloom Day is celebrated every year on 7th August. The day was started by the Prime Minister on August 7, 2015. Since then this day is celebrated every year.
