In an effort to boost milk development and production in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has launched the Nand Baba Milk Mission. The initiative, with a budget of Rs 1,000 crore, aims to empower milk producers and provide them an opportunity to sell their milk at a fair price through dairy cooperatives.
Objective and Empowering Milk Producers
- The primary objective of Nand Baba Milk Mission is to empower milk producers in Uttar Pradesh.
- By setting up dairy cooperatives, the mission aims to provide producers with a fair price for their milk, thereby ensuring their economic well-being.
Establishment of Dairy Farmer Producer Organizations (Dairy FPOs)
- Under the Nand Baba Milk Mission, there is a plan to set up Dairy Farmer Producer Organizations (Dairy FPOs) in 5 districts of the state.
- These organizations will play an important role in facilitating the sale of milk directly in the villages of the producers.
- The participation of women in dairy FPOs is an important aspect of the scheme promoting gender inclusion and empowerment.
Strengthening rural economy and agri-based infrastructure
- The Dairy Development Department is leading the efforts to strengthen the rural economy and ensure remunerative prices for farmers’ milk.
- Through the setting up of Dairy FPOs, the mission aims to increase the sale of milk in villages, contributing to the development of agri-based infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh.
