  • Every year on 26 November, Constitution Day is celebrated in India.
  • It is celebrated to commemorate the Constituent Assembly’s adoption of the Indian Constitution in 1949.
  • India’s Constitution is the longest-written constitution of any sovereign country in the world.
  • The Constituent Assembly of India enacted the Indian Constitution on November 26, 1949, and it came into effect on January 26, 1950.
  • On November 19, 2015, the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment announced the Government of India’s plan to commemorate the 26 November each year as “Constitution Day” in order to promote constitutional principles among citizens.
  • Dr. B R Ambedkar, widely known as the Father of the Indian Constitution, was a well-known social reformer, politician, and jurist.
  • On August 29, 1947, he was assigned as the chairman of the constitution drafting committee.
  • On the occasion of Constitution Day, President Draupadi Murmu unveiled the statue of Dr. Ambedkar in the Supreme Court.
