  • It is an apex anti-corruption government body in India.
  • It was established in 1964 on the recommendation of the K. Santhanam Committee.
  • It was granted statutory status in 2003 under the Central Vigilance Commission Act 2003.
  • The CVC Act does not lay down specific “eligibility criteria” for the appointment of commissioners.
