  • ICMR to release evidence-based norms for prevention, screening, diagnosis, and management of lung cancer.
  • The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) is set to launch a systematic review and meta-analyses.
  • It will play a key role in the management of lung cancer to guide clinical practice.
  • ICMR has released an expression of interest (EoI) for researchers, who are interested in conducting systematic reviews and meta-analyses.
  • At present, evidence-based guidelines do not exist concerning the prevention, screening, diagnosis, management, and palliation of lung cancer in India.
  • Systematic reviews/meta-analyses will be conducted by Prospective applicants using the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE) tool.
  • Lung cancer is one of the most common cancers in India. This accounts for 10% of total cancer deaths in India.
  • Lung cancer is a significant public health concern. Smoking tobacco is the primary risk factor for lung cancer.
