  • New Zealand’s left-arm fast bowler Trent Boult has announced his retirement from International Cricket after New Zealand’s final Group C match against Papua New Guinea at the 2024 T20 ICC Cricket World Cup. The match was played at the Brian Lara stadium in Tarouba.
  • Trent Boult made his international debut for New Zealand in 2011, and he represented the Black Cap (New Zealand team) in all the formats of the games – Test matches, One Day Internationals (ODIs) and T 20 Internationals.

Success in International Cricket

  • Trent Boult took 317 wickets in 78 Test matches he played for the Black Caps.
  • He is the fourth-highest wicket-taker for New Zealand in the test format after Richard Hadlee(431 wickets), longstanding new-ball colleague Tim Southee (380 Test wickets) and left-arm spinner Daniel Vettori (361).
  • Boult’s last Test was against England at Headingley in 2022.
  • He has played 114 one-day internationals and taken 211 wickets in the format. His last ODI match was the semifinal against India in the 2023 World Cup, which India won by 70 runs.
  • In 2022, he was released from the New Zealand central contract so that he could play in T20 leagues around the world. Since then, he has been infrequently selected by the New Zealand side.
