- He said that on August 20, 1942, the people of Sootea, led by the late Biman Chandra Bora, hoisted the national flag at the Sootea police station.
- According to CM, Sootea has made important contribution to the nation’s struggle for freedom.
- Chief Minister Sarma paid tributes to the bravehearts of Assam who participated in the Quit India Movement.
- Additionally, CM announced that a history monument will be built by the government at the Sootea police station’s historic location.
- He declared plans to invest Rs 5 crore in the project, which will highlight the rich history of Sootea Police Station and its adjoining areas.
