The Education Ministry has launched the registration portal for fifth phase of Yuva Sangam under Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSB) initiative. The programme is aimed at deepening connectivity and understanding among youth. Yuva Sangam is primarily for students, NSS/NYKS volunteers, working and self-employed individuals in the age group of 18-30 years. The initiative was launched in the year 2023, and is aligned with the goals of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasizes on experiential learning and assimilating the rich cultural diversity of India. Under the programme, participants will get an opportunity to interact with youth from different states and union territories, learn about the culture, natural landforms, development sites, and local traditions.
Yuva Sangam Programme
- Yuva Sangam Programme was launched on 31st October 2016 under Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative, in line with the idea presented by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on 31st October 2015. The initiative aims to inculcate a spirit of unity and pride in diversity among the youth of the country. The two main elements of Panch Prana – Strength in Unity and Pride in Heritage are the core part of this initiative.
Yuva Sangam (Phase-V)
- Yuva Sangam (Phase-V) is a flagship initiative under Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, organised by the Government of India to promote interaction and understanding among the youth. The initiative aims to enable youth from different states to experience the rich diversity of the country through mutual interaction and cultural exchange.
Salient Features of the Programme
Target Group
- Mainly students studying in higher educational institutions.
- Some off-campus youth from across the country can also participate in the programme.
Organizing Trips
- Trips will be organized for the youth across various states to share their experiences and interact with the culture, traditions, development achievements and local youth.
- Key Experience Areas: The youth will gain experiences in five broad areas:
- Tourism: Explore the beauty, cultural heritage and tourist sites of various states.
- Tradition: Experience the unique traditions, customs and folk arts of each state.
- Pragati: Opportunity to know the development journey and recent achievements of the states.
- Interaction: To promote dialogue and cultural partnership with local youth.
- Technology: To connect with modern technologies and technological advancements of the states.
Objectives
- To foster deeper connections and engagement among the youth of different states.
- To give them a first-hand experience of the strength in India’s rich diversity and unity.
- To make the youth aware of the development achievements and recent progress, thereby inspiring them to contribute to the development of the country.
Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat
- This initiative was launched by the Central Government in the year 2015 to promote mutual understanding and cooperation among the diverse cultures and traditions of the country. Its objective is to encourage deep and structured engagement between the people of different states and union territories, thereby strengthening national unity and integrity.
- Associated Ministry: This program operates under the Ministry of Education, which works towards the activities and goals of this scheme.
- Activities under the scheme: Under this initiative, each state and union territory is linked with another state/union territory for a period of time. During this time there is an exchange of ideas and cultures in various fields.
