A possible $1.17 billion deal to sell support equipment for MH-60R multi-role helicopters to India has been approved by the United States under its Foreign Military Sales program.
Of the 24 helicopters contracted under a $2.2 billion deal with Lockheed Martin in February 2020, nine have been inducted into India’s armed services so far.
The necessary certification was provided by the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), notifying the US Congress about this potential sale of follow-on systems.
A request has been made by the Government of India to purchase 30 Multifunctional Information Distribution System-Joint Tactical Radio Systems.
The ability of the Government of India to deter current and future threats will be improved by the proposed sale through the upgrading of anti-submarine warfare capabilities.
The prime contractor will be Lockheed Martin, and any offset agreements will be defined in further negotiations.
