First Green Hydrogen Hub at Pudimadaka
- The first Green Hydrogen Hub at Pudimadaka near Visakhapatnam is being set up by NTPC Green Energy Limited.
- The hub will be India’s largest integrated green hydrogen production facility.
- The Hub will produce 1500 tonnes of Green Hydrogen per day and 7500 tonnes of Green Hydrogen derivatives such as Green Methanol, Green Urea and Sustainable Aviation Fuel.
- Total investment – around Rs 1,85,000 crore.
- The Hub will also include installation of 20 GW of renewable energy capacity.
- The Green Hydrogen Hub will help achieve the target of 5 MMT (million metric tonnes) of Green Hydrogen production per year under the National Green Hydrogen Mission and add 125 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030.
- Green Hydrogen means splitting water into hydrogen and oxygen molecules through electrolysis. The energy required for electrolysis is produced from renewable energy sources such as water, sun, wind, etc.
