The Australian state of Victoria has decided not to host the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
Victoria’s Premier Dan Andrews told that his state is not ready for about 7 billion Australian dollars to be spent in its organization.
The 12-day Commonwealth Games (2026) was proposed to be held in Victoria, Australia.
Played as a multi-sport competition, the Commonwealth Games are designed like the Olympics. Which was started by the British Empire in the year 1930.
India participated as a team in the 1934 and 1938 Games under British rule. But after the partition of India in 1947, both India and Pakistan participated in the 1954 Commonwealth Games as separate countries.
Similarly, Bangladesh started participating in the Commonwealth Games from 1978 after independence from Pakistan in 1971.
