The group of BRICS countries has invited six new countries to join the group. These new countries include Argentina, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
This time the BRICS summit has been hosted by South Africa. The new membership will be effective from January 1, 2024.
BRICS is the title of an association of emerging national economies. Its constituent nations are Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
The name of this group has been derived from the initial letters B, R, I, C and S of the names of these countries in English. It was established in 2009.
