The bilateral naval exercise ‘Zayed Talwar’ between the Indian Navy and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Navy began at Port Rashid Dubai.
Exercise Zayed Talwar was a three-day exercise (8-11 August 2023).
Two Indian Naval Ships (INS) ships, INS Visakhapatnam and INS Trikand, under the command of Rear Admiral Vineet McCarty, Flag Officer Commanding Western Fleet, arrived at Dubai on 8 Aug 2023.
INS Visakhapatnam and INS Trikand are commanded by Captain Ashok Rao and Captain Pramod G Thomas respectively.
The objective of the bilateral exercise is to enhance interoperability and synergy between the two navies. The present visit will further enhance the maritime partnership between the two navies and promote common understanding of security challenges in the region.
