The total number of Jan Dhan accounts in the country has crossed the figure of 50 crores. Of these, 56 percent accounts are related to women.
The Finance Ministry gave this information. About 67 percent of these accounts have been opened in villages and small towns. The total deposits in these accounts are more than Rs 2.03 lakh crore, while around 34 crore RuPay cards have been issued free of cost from these accounts.
The average balance in Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) accounts is Rs 4,076 and of these, over 5.5 crore are receiving Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
The National Mission on Financial Inclusion ie Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) was launched on 28 August 2014. It has been successful in changing the financial scenario of the country.
