Justice Prakash Srivastava, former Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court, has been appointed as the Chairperson of the National Green Tribunal (NGT).
Before Justice Prakash Srivastava, the chairman of the NGT was Justice Shiv Kumar Singh.
Justice Shiv Kumar Singh was appointed as the acting chairman of the tribunal on July 7 itself, following the retirement of Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel.
The new chairman of NGT, Justice Prakash Srivastava, started his career as a lawyer in 1987. He practiced in the Supreme Court in Tax Civil and Constitutional Law. He was appointed as an Additional Judge in the Madhya Pradesh High Court on 18 January 2008, before being made permanent on 15 January 2010.
Thereafter, Justice Prakash Srivastava served as the Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court from October 11, 2021 till his retirement on March 30, 2023.
