- IPS officer Pravin Madhukar Pawar is appointed as Joint Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for five years.
- He will be Joint Director of CBI from the date of assumption of charge until five years or till further orders, whichever is earlier.
- The appointment has been approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.
- Earlier, Praveen Sood was appointed as the director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for two years.
- The director of CBI is appointed for a fixed tenure of two years by a committee including the prime minister, CJI, and the leader of the opposition in Lok Sabha.
