  • The new Global TB Report for 2023 released by the World Health Organization (WHO) has revealed that India had the highest number of cases of tuberculosis (TB) in the world in 2022, accounting for 27 percent of the global burden.
  • According to the report, India is expected to record 2.8 million (28.2 lakh) TB cases in 2022, with a mortality rate of 12 percent.
  • Covering data from 192 countries and territories, the report shows that 7.5 million people were diagnosed with TB in 2022.
