- Prabha Varma has won the Saraswati Samman literary award for 2023.
- Mr. Varma is presently Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s media secretary.
- Mr. Varma has brought the award back to Kerala after a gap of about 12-year.
- He had been selected for his work, “Roudra Sathwikam” for the award.
Saraswati Samman
- It was started in 1991. It is sponsored by K. K. Birla Foundation.
- It is given annually for prose or poetry in any one of 22 languages in Schedule VIII of the Indian Constitution.
- It includes a plaque, a citation, and a cash prize of ₹15 lakh. It is given for work published within last 10 years.
- Saraswati Samman was first won by Harivansh Rai Bachchan.
