  • Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel announced that National Civil Service Day will be observed every year to honour the contributions of civil servants to the country.
  • The first ever National Civil Services Day in India was celebrated on 21 April 2006.
  • Charles Cornwallis is known as the “Father of the Indian Civil Service” for his contribution to the reform and modernization of India’s civil services.
