  • The theme for this year’s World Book and Copyright Day is ‘Read Your Way’.
  • It is observed in 100 countries to honour works by authors.
  • This day is celebrated to promote the love of reading, writing books, translations, publishing, and copyright.
  • World Book Day was first proposed by Vicente Clavel Andres to honour the renowned author, Miguel de Cervantes.
  • 23 April is also the death anniversary of prominent authors such as William Shakespeare and Inca Garcilaso de la Vega.
