  • UNICEF India has appointed Kareena Kapoor as its National Ambassador.
  • Since 2014, Kareena Kapoor has been associated with UNICEF India and has worked on issues such as girls’ education, gender equality, basic education, vaccination, and breastfeeding.
  • As an ambassador, Kareena Kapoor Khan will support UNICEF India in advancing every child’s right to early childhood development, health, education, and gender equality.
  • In addition, she has been instrumental in several global campaigns for UNICEF on #EveryChildRights.
  • At the same event, the appointment of its first Youth Advocates has also been announced by UNICEF India, who are peer leaders and champions on issues such as climate action, mental health, innovations, and girls in STEM.
  • All four advocates, aged between 16 and 24, have specific areas of interest.
  • Gauranshi Sharma from Madhya Pradesh is for right to play and disability inclusion and Kartik Verma from Uttar Pradesh is for climate action and child rights advocacy.
  • Nahid Afrin from Assam is for mental health and early childhood development, and Vinisha Umashankar from Tamil Nadu is a budding innovator and STEM pioneer.
