- Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) and Center for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) have signed MoU to set up technical and institutional cooperation mechanism in Telecom.
Telecom Regulatory Authority of India
- The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) was established on February 20, 1997 by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India Act, 1997.
- TRAI consists of a Chairman, two full-time members and two part-time members, who are appointed by the Government of India.
Telematics Development Center
- Center for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) is a Government of India owned Telecom Technology Development Centre.
- It was established in 1984 with the initial mandate of designing and developing digital exchanges.
- C-DOT has expanded to develop intelligent computer software applications. It has offices in Delhi, Bengaluru and Kolkata.
- It is one of the few government organizations in India that has been assessed at Maturity Level 5 of CMMI-DEV v1.3.
- In February 2014, CDOT’s technology licensee United Telecom Limited won a GPON order from BBNL worth about Rs 1000 crore.
