- Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisted the tricolor for the 10th time from the Red Fort. On this occasion, during his address, he announced Vishwakarma Yojana. Vishwakarma Yojana will be launched on September 17 on the occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti.
Vishwakarma Scheme
- This scheme has been launched to promote the livelihood of traditional workers and craftsmen belonging to the OBC community.
- Initially, Rs 13,000 crore to Rs 15,000 crore will be allocated in this scheme. Under this, the development of goldsmiths, blacksmiths, washermen, hair-dressers and workers will be ensured.
Objective of PM Vishwakarma Yojana
- PM Vishwakarma Yojana has been launched to improve the quality, scale and reach of products and services of artisans and craftsmen.
- Which will result in economic empowerment of such workers, especially those belonging to SC, ST, OBC, women, transgender and other weaker sections of the society.
Benefits of Vishwakarma Yojana
- This scheme will directly benefit the people involved in craftsmanship, as well as the laborers and the weaker sections of the society at large can also take advantage of this scheme. Vishwakarma Yojana was announced in the budget 2023.
