2023 ASIA cup

• In the final of the 2023 Asia Cup, Team India easily defeated Sri Lanka and won the title.
• India has won the Asia Cup trophy for a record eighth time. In the final match, the Sri Lankan team was all out for just 50 runs.
• After this, the Indian team easily chased the target in just 6.1 overs. Mohammad Siraj was the hero of this victory of India. Siraj laid the foundation of India’s historic victory by taking 6 wickets.
• After playing first, Sri Lanka had given a target of only 51 runs to Team India in the final match.
• The Indian team achieved this modest target in just 37 balls without losing any wicket. Shubhman Gill returned unbeaten after scoring 27 runs in 19 balls and Ishan Kishan returned unbeaten after scoring 23 runs in 18 balls. Gill hit 6 fours while Ishaan hit three fours.

Asia cup

• The Asia Cup started in 1984 in Sharjah city of United Arab Emirates. This place also houses the headquarters of the newly formed Asian Cricket Council, which organizes the Asia Cup.
• It was a round-robin tournament, in which India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan participated. The first match was between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
• It is held every two years in ODI and T20 formats.
