  • This sample of asteroids will help in knowing more about the origin of organics that may have led to life on Earth.
  • It will also help in knowing more about how the solar system has formed.
  • NASA’s OSIRIS-REx spacecraft collected the samples from the surface of the Bennu asteroid.
  • The pebbles and dust brought on September 24 are the biggest haul sample after the sample brought from the moon.
  • The collected samples will be kept in a dedicated curation laboratory at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston.
  • Japan is the only other country to bring back asteroid samples.
