  • Sangeet Natak Akademi will organize ‘Shakti – Festival of Music and Dance’ from April 9 to 17 in seven different Shaktipeeths of the country.
  • ‘Shakti Utsav’ is starting from Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati. Sangeet Natak Akademi is the National Academy of Performing Arts and an autonomous institution of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
  • SNA, under the Kala Pravah series, is organizing an event named ‘A Festival of Shakti Music and Dance’ to revive the temple traditions in the country. This celebration is being held during the holy Navratri in April 2024.
  • Since Navratri symbolizes the power of nine goddesses.

This festival will be organized in seven different Shaktipeeths of the country. These mainly include:

  1. Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati (Assam)
  2. Mahalakshmi Temple of Kolhapur (Maharashtra)
  3. Jwalamukhi Temple of Kangada (Himachal Pradesh)
  4. Tripura Sundari Temple of Udaipur (Tripura)
  5. Ambaji Temple of Banaskantha (Gujarat)
  6. Jai Durga Shaktipeeth of Deoghar (Jharkhand)
  7. Shaktipeeth Maa Harsiddhi Temple of Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh)

Sangeet Natak Akademi (SNA)

  • SNA is India’s largest national level academy of music and drama established by the Government of India. The headquarters of SNA is in New Delhi.
  • The Union Ministry of Education, Government of India, established the Sangeet Natak Akademi as an autonomous institution through a parliamentary resolution. Under which the Akademi was established in 1953. Later in the year 1961, the Akademi was dissolved and it was organized in a new form.
  • This institution was registered under the Societies Registration of 1860. Its new council and executive committee were formed. Now the academy is functioning in the same form.
  • SNA is the apex body in India dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the rich intangible heritage expressed through music, dance and drama.
  • The SNA is managed by its General Council, whose Chairman is appointed by the President of India for a term of five years.
  • The registered office of SNA is located at Ravindra Bhavan, New Delhi.
  • SNA, functioning as an autonomous body under the Ministry of Culture, plays a vital role in promoting and preserving the cultural heritage of India.
  • SNA presents the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar to artists under the age of 40 who have excelled in dance, music and theatre.
