In his Mann ki Baat
programme, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the installation of a statue
of C. Rajagopalachari.

C. Rajagopalachari was
the first Governor-General of independent India.
¨
The new statue will
replace the statue of Edwin Lutyens in Rashtrapati Bhavan.
¨
Edwin Lutyens was the
British architect linked to the design of the presidential complex.
¨
The announcement was made
during the 131st episode of Mann ki Baat.
¨ The Prime Minister praised Rajagopalachari’s discipline and independent thinking.
¨ An exhibition on Rajagopalachari will also be organised from 24 February to 1 March.
