¨     Bihar Cabinet approved the abolition of the Bihar Vigilance Investigation Cadre.

¨     The vigilance investigation cadre will be integrated into the regular Bihar Police force.

¨     The reorganisation order was issued by the Bihar Home Department.

¨     The merger includes Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), Police Inspectors, and Sub-Inspectors of the vigilance cadre.

¨     Bihar Police functions under the Bihar Police Act, 2007.

¨     The Act provides the legal framework for policing in the state.

¨     Before the merger, the Vigilance Investigation Unit functioned as a separate cadre within the state police administration.

¨     Deputy Superintendents of Police of the vigilance cadre will be absorbed into the Bihar Police Service.

¨     Police Inspectors and Sub-Inspectors of the 2014 and 2023 batches will also be adjusted into equivalent ranks in Bihar Police.

¨     The service continuity of the absorbed officers will remain protected after the merger.

¨     In terms of seniority, these officers will be placed immediately after the last-ranked officers of their respective batches in Bihar Police

¨     The move aims to strengthen administrative restructuring and integrated functioning within the Bihar Police system.
