World Radio Day is an
international day celebrated every year on February 13. UNESCO decided to
celebrate this day during its 36th conference on November 3, 2011.

raise awareness about the use of radio. World Radio Day is an important day
whose main objective is to publicize the importance of radio and encourage
people to use it.

To celebrate World Radio
Day, the United Nations General Assembly decided to celebrate World Radio Day
on February 13 in 2011.

United Nations Radio and
the United Nations International Broadcasting Service were established on
February 13, 1946, by the Director-General of UNESCO. This is why World Radio
Day is celebrated on February 13th.

UNESCO provides various
materials to radio stations so they can broadcast news, special radio shows,
audio programs, and other topics for special days and events.

Its main objective is to
raise awareness and increase knowledge about issues of concern to people.
¨ Various organizations and institutions were involved in the establishment of World Radio Day, including public, private, community, and international broadcasters, United Nations agencies, funds and programs, subject-related NGOs, academics, foundations, and development agencies.
¨ These organizations understood the importance of World Radio Day and worked together to promote it in various ways. Together with these organizations, UNESCO organized the day and organized special events to raise awareness about the importance of radio.
