Readiness Index 2025 report

¨     India has made significant progress in global digital performance. According to the Network Readiness Index 2025 report released on February 4, 2026, India has jumped four places to 45th place among 127 economies.

¨     Along with the improvement in ranking, India's overall score has also increased from 53.63 in 2024 to 54.43 (2025).

¨     The report particularly highlights India's growing strength in technology adoption, digital infrastructure, and innovation-led development.

Network Readiness Index 2025

¨     The Network Readiness Index 2025 assesses how effectively countries are using digital technologies for development and growth. The index is prepared by the Portulans Institute, an independent non-profit research organization.

¨     It evaluates 127 economies based on four pillars—technology, people, governance, and impact—covering 53 indicators. The index provides a holistic picture of the effectiveness of the use of networks, data, and digital tools in the economy and society.

India's improved rank and score in the NRI 2025

¨  India's rise to 45th place in the Network Readiness Index 2025 reflects continued improvement across various digital indicators.

¨   The country's score has improved to 54.43 (out of 100), indicating a stronger digital foundation compared to the previous year. The report also noted that India's network readiness is higher than expected for its income level, highlighting that the country's digital progress is progressing rapidly across economic boundaries.
