IIT Madras Global
Research Foundation (IITM Global) launched its first US center in Menlo Park.
¨
The center became
operational on 24 April 2026.
¨
Its launch was announced
during the SelectUSA Investment Summit 2026 held from 6 to 9 May 2026.
¨
IITM Global is the
overseas research and innovation arm associated with Indian Institute of
Technology Madras.
¨
A total investment of 7.5
million US dollars has been planned for the new center.
¨
This includes a 4.5
million US dollar greenfield investment by IITM Global.
¨
The Menlo Park hub is
planned as a center for deep-tech research, commercialization, and startup
incubation.
¨
Deep technology includes
advanced scientific and engineering fields such as artificial intelligence,
robotics, clean technology, and immersive systems.
¨
The center is located
near Silicon Valley, one of the world’s leading technology hubs.
¨
It aims to help Indian
deep-tech startups gain access to capital, markets, mentorship, and
partnerships in the United States.
¨ The initiative is linked to India-US industry-academia collaboration and the global expansion of research-based Indian startups.
¨ IITM Global also announced plans to establish a second center on the east coast of the United States.
