United States Releases Classified Records
on Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena

began releasing classified and previously classified records related to
Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) in 2026.

The disclosures involved
the White House, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the
Department of Energy, NASA, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the
Pentagon.
¨ Unidentified Anomalous
Phenomena is the official term used by the US government for objects or events
observed in the sky, space, or underwater that remain unexplained even after
analysis.
¨
The term has largely
replaced the earlier expression “Unidentified Flying Objects” (UFOs) in
official documents and programmes.
¨ The All-domain Anomaly
Resolution Office (AARO) is the Pentagon office responsible for collecting and
analysing UAP reports.
¨ The White House Office of
Science and Technology Policy released related documents in April 2026.
¨
NASA also participated in
the inter-agency effort concerning UAP investigations.
¨
The Pentagon started
releasing new UAP files from 8 May 2026.
¨ The White House Office of
Science and Technology Policy released documents covering the period from 2012
to 2026 on 29 April 2026.
¨ The released material included sensor data obtained from US Navy F/A-18 Super Hornet aircraft.
¨ The files also contained a 2019 memorandum related to a UAP crash recovery programme.
