United States Releases Classified Records on Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena

¨   United States government began releasing classified and previously classified records related to Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) in 2026.

¨     The disclosures involved the White House, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the Department of Energy, NASA, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Pentagon.

¨ Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena is the official term used by the US government for objects or events observed in the sky, space, or underwater that remain unexplained even after analysis.

¨     The term has largely replaced the earlier expression “Unidentified Flying Objects” (UFOs) in official documents and programmes.

¨ The All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) is the Pentagon office responsible for collecting and analysing UAP reports.

¨ The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy released related documents in April 2026.

¨     NASA also participated in the inter-agency effort concerning UAP investigations.

¨     The Pentagon started releasing new UAP files from 8 May 2026.

¨   The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy released documents covering the period from 2012 to 2026 on 29 April 2026.

¨    The released material included sensor data obtained from US Navy F/A-18 Super Hornet aircraft.

¨  The files also contained a 2019 memorandum related to a UAP crash recovery programme.
