8th India–Indonesia Joint Commission Meeting was held in New Delhi

¨     8th India–Indonesia Joint Commission Meeting was held on 7 June 2026 in New Delhi.

¨     It was co-chaired by S. Jaishankar and Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono.

¨     The meeting was held after a gap of four years.

¨     India and Indonesia marked 75 years of diplomatic relations in 2025.

¨     Bilateral relations were elevated to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2018.

¨     The Joint Commission Meeting is a key mechanism to review bilateral cooperation.

¨     Discussions covered defence, trade, health, education, creative industries, pharmaceuticals, housing, and the nutritious meals programme.

¨     The meeting followed a high-level interaction on 14 May 2026 in New Delhi ahead of the BRICS Foreign Ministers Meeting.

¨     Earlier, the 6th Joint Working Group on Counter Terrorism was held in Jakarta in August 2024.
