statue of Maharshi Sushruta was unveiled at the Royal College of Surgeons of
Edinburgh in United Kingdom.

The statue was installed
in the Playfair Auditorium.

The Royal College of
Surgeons of Edinburgh was established in 1505 and is one of the oldest surgical
institutions in the world.
¨
Maharshi Sushruta is
widely regarded as the "Father of Surgery" in Indian medical history.
¨
His pioneering work in
surgery, including plastic surgery, dates back approximately 2,600 years.
¨
His surgical knowledge is
documented in the Sushruta Samhita, a classical Sanskrit medical treatise.
¨
The statue was donated by
the Cheruvu Family Foundation.
¨
The foundation was
established by Chandra Cheruvu and his family.
¨
The bronze statue was
sculpted by an artist from Tiruvannamalai, Tamil Nadu.
