A 90-kilogram bronze statue of Maharshi Sushruta was unveiled at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in United Kingdom

¨     A 90-kilogram bronze statue of Maharshi Sushruta was unveiled at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in United Kingdom.

¨     The statue was installed in the Playfair Auditorium.

¨     The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh was established in 1505 and is one of the oldest surgical institutions in the world.

¨     Maharshi Sushruta is widely regarded as the "Father of Surgery" in Indian medical history.

¨     His pioneering work in surgery, including plastic surgery, dates back approximately 2,600 years.

¨     His surgical knowledge is documented in the Sushruta Samhita, a classical Sanskrit medical treatise.

¨     The statue was donated by the Cheruvu Family Foundation.

¨     The foundation was established by Chandra Cheruvu and his family.

¨     The bronze statue was sculpted by an artist from Tiruvannamalai, Tamil Nadu.
