ACME Green Molecules Signs Long-Term Green
Methanol Supply Deal with Mitsubishi Gas Chemical
¨
ACME Green Molecules
Business, part of India’s ACME Group, signed a binding long-term Purchase and
Sale Agreement with Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Company on 3 July 2026.
¨
The agreement covers the
supply of 100,000 tonnes per annum of green methanol.
¨
The total estimated value
of the deal is around USD 1 billion.
¨
Green methanol is a
low-carbon fuel produced from renewable sources and is used in industrial and
maritime applications.
¨
Unlike conventional
methanol, green methanol is designed to significantly reduce lifecycle carbon
dioxide emissions.
¨
The product falls under
RFNBO (Renewable Fuels of Non-Biological Origin), a classification used under
European Union fuel regulations.
¨
The supplied fuel is
intended to meet EU regulatory standards as well as future International
Maritime Organization (IMO) carbon-intensity requirements for shipping.
¨
The green methanol will
be produced at ACME’s facility in Paradip, Odisha.
¨ Paradip is a key port location on India’s eastern coast, supporting large-scale industrial and export activities.
¨ This marks the third major investment by the ACME Group in Odisha, strengthening its presence in the state’s clean energy sector.
