Agnikul Cosmos and ICEYE Sign MoU for
Satellite Launch Collaboration
¨
Agnikul Cosmos, an Indian
private space transportation company, and ICEYE, a Finnish Synthetic Aperture
Radar (SAR) satellite company, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 30
June and 1 July 2026.
¨
The MoU was signed during
Bharat Innovates in Nice, France.
¨
The partnership aims to
build, launch, and operate Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) Earth observation
systems from India.
¨
Synthetic Aperture Radar
(SAR) is an active remote-sensing technology that uses microwave signals to
generate high-resolution images of the Earth's surface.
¨
SAR can capture images
day and night and can penetrate cloud cover, enabling continuous Earth
observation in all weather conditions.
¨
Agnikul Cosmos is
developing Agnibaan, a small satellite launch vehicle designed for responsive
space missions.
¨
Agnibaan is part of
Agnikul's full-stack responsive launch capability, enabling faster launch
timelines and flexible mission planning for small satellites.
¨
ICEYE operates the
world's largest SAR satellite constellation, consisting of more than 70
satellites.
¨
The partnership includes
plans to establish SAR satellite manufacturing capabilities in India.
¨
India is also planned to
serve as ICEYE's Asia-Pacific manufacturing hub for its global SAR satellite
constellation.
